Persons with significant public administration experience who desire to pursue the master’s degree program while continuing to work full-time are encouraged to apply. All courses in the program are offered in the evening, one night a week for three years at the BYU Salt Lake Center.

The executive masters of business administration option is a rigorous program in general management for fully employed professionals. Designed for managers and professionals who have at least five years of full-time managerial work experience, it consists of courses similar to the full-time MBA program but is unique in reflecting the work and management experience of its students. The Executive MBA is a general degree and does not offer specialization in functional areas.

BYU’s TESOL MA program aims to prepare students with linguistic, instructional, and cultural-awareness skills for professional careers as teachers, materials developers, curriculum designers, supervisors, administrators, and assessment specialists in the international field of TESOL. The program also provides a solid base for students who desire to pursue doctoral studies in TESOL, applied linguistics, language education, instructional design, language assessment, or related fields.

The Master of Arts Degree in Professional Language is an integrated five-year program that awards both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree to students who successfully complete the program. Students must complete the program’s tailored on-campus courses, direct enrollment in an overseas university, and an internship in the target language. This program is currently offered to speakers of Chinese.
This degree will prepare students for information technology (IT) and cybersecurity leadership positions, needed by so many organizations today. The curriculum addresses the many applications and developments of IT and Cybersecurity, focusing on those in science, engineering, and technology. The MS degree is awarded to students who have mastered a professional level of education in core and related areas of information technologies and cybersecurity.

The Department of Physics and Astronomy offers a doctoral degree in Physics and Astronomy. Physics and Astronomy PhD students take graduate-level courses in astronomy, astrophysics or other related topics and perform original research culminating in a written dissertation. The application deadline for full consideration in the program is January 15 of each year. Applications may be submitted past this deadline but will only be reviewed after the review of on-time applications have been completed.

The graduate program is designed to address the theories, research, and practices that (1) strengthen marriages, (2) enhance the development of children, and (3) unfold the characteristics of quality nurturing relationships across generations.

The PhD degree in MFHD provides integrated and in-depth learning experiences in family studies and human development. It also offers the opportunity to acquire expertise in a number of different aspects of the field. The primary focus of doctoral study is to help students become effective educators and scholars. Many graduates find professional positions in university departments related to family studies or human development. Some find positions in community settings, research organizations, or the mass media; and others choose to work in business settings.

The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and has three interrelated emphases: Clinical Practice, Teaching and Clinic Supervision, and Research. The PhD program offers two tracks: 1) Academic/Research and 2) Clinical Administration/Private Practice. Electives are offered within each of these categories to help students meet their individual goals. These emphases will be facilitated and directed within an environment of understanding and respect for multicultural diversity.

A PhD in Microbiology and Molecular Biology indicates that the graduate is capable of and qualified to conduct independent and original research in the Microbiology and Molecular Biology industries and other related fields. Employees with PhD degrees are in high demand by industry, with starting salaries that are considerably higher than for BS or MS graduates. Also, a PhD degree is generally required to pursue an academic career. The doctoral program is designed to prepare the student for a lifetime of intellectual inquiry and research and is, therefore, more rigorous and demanding than the MS program.
