The goals of the business administration MBA are to demonstrate proficiency in the subject matter of their major. Additionally, students will gain proficiency in all core disciplines of business including corporate finance, financial accounting, marketing, global supply chain/operations, human resource management, leadership, strategy, global management, managerial accounting, and ethics.

The executive masters of business administration option is a rigorous program in general management for fully employed professionals. Designed for managers and professionals who have at least five years of full-time managerial work experience, it consists of courses similar to the full-time MBA program but is unique in reflecting the work and management experience of its students. The Executive MBA is a general degree and does not offer specialization in functional areas.

The MISM program is designed for students who want professional careers in information systems. Students seek employment with consulting firms, accounting firms, industrial organizations, and not-for-profit entities performing a variety of services, such as understanding the information needs of an organization, designing, developing, and implementing information systems to meet specified requirements, administering the information systems function, auditing an information system, and formulating an information systems master plan to effectively utilize information technology throughout an organization.

This degree will prepare students for information technology (IT) and cybersecurity leadership positions, needed by so many organizations today. The curriculum addresses the many applications and developments of IT and Cybersecurity, focusing on those in science, engineering, and technology. The MS degree is awarded to students who have mastered a professional level of education in core and related areas of information technologies and cybersecurity.

The full-time MPA program is designed to provide an understanding of the essential body of knowledge and to develop the basic skills needed for professional management. Such essentials include quantitative analysis, managerial economics, organizational behavior, strategy, human resource management, accounting, budget and finance, ethics, and communication. These skills are taught through practical class and field experiences, case studies, formal and computer simulations, and special workshops and seminars. Second-year courses are designed around an individual’s desired sector and skill areas. Sectors include local government, state and federal government, and nonprofit. Skills include resource development, program management, and finance. By selecting a sector and a skill area, students are uniquely prepared for a career where they can effectively administer in government and nonprofit programs.

Programs
Persons with significant public administration experience who desire to pursue the master’s degree program while continuing to work full-time are encouraged to apply. All courses in the program are offered in the evening, one night a week for three years at the BYU Salt Lake Center.

The Technology (MS) degree with a specialization in Technology and Engineering Education is expected to be completed within three years.

The Technology and Engineering Education specialization helps students who have graduated in technology and/or engineering teacher education or related areas to be more effective leaders. The opportunity will be theirs to achieve knowledge and skills for leadership in teaching, supervising, and managing in schools or industry. Through a research-oriented thesis, students will develop writing and research abilities related to technology and engineering education.
