Purpose

  • Obtain practical field experience in the field to which the student is interested or encouraged to participate in.
  • Learn through experience the role of management skills in the public or nonprofit sector.
  • Apply the tools and principles learned in public management courses to professional practice.

Tasks

  • The outcomes and activities range by professor among any of the following: presentations, research, language learning, working with private or public sector internship opportunities, etc. This wide variety is to give the student real world application that will help to improve their understanding in an academic environment and their career progress in the future.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in analyzing problems, developing solutions, and implementing recommendations.
  • Demonstrate appropriate managerial professionalism through responsible actions, thorough analysis, and meeting deadlines.
