Outcome 1
Apply a fundamental understanding of the tools of optical spectroscopy (sources, spectrometers, optics, and detectors) to the design (on paper) of spectroscopic experiments.
Outcome 2
Demonstrate an understanding of the interactions of electromagnetic radiation with matter in the analysis of papers from the current scientific literature.
Outcome 3
Demonstrate a basic understanding of a range of state-of-the-art spectroscopic techniques that will be surveyed in the latter part of the course.
