By the end of the course, students will have read extensively on a topic determined by the instructor.

Students will be able to identify and outline some of the principal issues and contextual matters related to the designated topic area as well as to identify the principal sources and methods for resolving questions related to that topic area.

By the end of the course, students will have prepared a substantial paper or project that demonstrates their mastery of material related to a specific issue or question within the topic area.
