PR Issues & Strategy

Relationship of strategic communications and stakeholder theory to current issues in the field, including reputation, image, apologia, trust, transparency, power, leadership, conflict resolution, and change.

Investigations

Students will gain familiarity with findings from empirical investigations in the field.  

Research and Application

Students will receive a solid grounding in participatory action research and apply specific theory and strategies for change in a current real-life management or volunteer communication context, situation or setting.    

Strategic Communication

Students will gain expertise in understanding the different operating levels of strategic communication.

Case Studies

Students will critically analyze case studies in leadership.

PR Strategies

Students will apply public relations and leadership strategies to disseminating messages in a real case study.   

Managerial Problems

Students will solve managerial problems among media-influenced organizations.

Conflict Resolution

Students will learn to use principles of conflict resolution throughout the practice of public relations.

Qualitative Research

Students will apply case study research using a qualitative computer program in a qualitative method of inquiry.

Writing

Students will learn to synthesize materials into a cohesive academic paper.

Presentation

Students will learn to give effective presentations to senior management.
