Public Health Capstone

An integrative learning experience that synthesizes foundational competencies of public health as a discipline with concentration competencies from the public health program. Case studies, professional development activities, and an applied project done in partnership with a public health organization are used to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of foundational and concentration-specific knowledge, theory, and skills. Projects focus on underserved populations that experience health inequities and disparities.
Foundational and Concentration Competencies
Synthesize select public health foundational and concentration competencies
Health Systems
Work collaboratively with various actors in the public health system to provide a public health product that addresses an identified need

Work effectively as a team
Research and Study Design
Develop a research question and hypothesis appropriate for the applied project study design and seek to answer the question using suitable analytical techniques
Effective Communication
Develop oral presentation for partnering agency and graduate committee that effectively reports the findings of the applied project
