Identifying and analyzing similarities and discontinuities in moving images, from classical film through digital media.

Film Theory: 1915 to Present

(1) analyze key film theories from 1915 to the present and apply them to specific film texts

Constructing Meaning

(2) understand multiple ways spectators construct meanings while viewing films, using classic (canonical) film theory paradigms and vocabulary;

Personal Framework

(3) consider his/her personal framework of how films make meaning

Practical Strategies

(4) consider and  begin to develop practical strategies for employing film theory in media literacy or 100-level theatre courses
