Preparation of new military chaplains; leading worship, preaching, and guiding the teaching ministry within a chapel and operational environment, emphasizing a practical ministry within a theological and spiritual context.

Knowledge

Comprehend the history of preaching from the patristic fathers to the reformation and beyond.

Sermonizing in other faith traditions

Students will be able to preach a respectable sermon that is timely, meaningful, and respectful to those belonging to other faiths

Conducting Non-LDS Services

Students will be able to create appropriate service orders for the variety of worship services over which they may have to preside.

Conducting Funerals and Memorial Ceremonies

Students must be able to conduct funerals, and memorial ceremonies and services.

 

Conduction Weddings

Students will be able to conduct a Christian wedding in a military and non-military setting.

Small Group Worship

Students will be able to conduct Christian small group worship services in the field, on the deck of a ship, on the flight line or in a hospital.
