Topics in the Old Testament emphasizing doctrinal, historical, and cultural background.
Content Mastery
Students will be able to recall, discuss, and teach the themes, doctrines, major covenants, narrative line, and basic historical information in the Old Testament.
Study Skills
Students will be able to explain, utilize, and illustrate, with Old Testament examples, the major methodological approaches used by scholars in studying the OT, and discuss the nature of Old Testament approaches utilized by Latter-day Saints.
Exegesis
Students will be able to understand and demonstrate legitimate exegesis of OT passages.
Application
Students will be able to reflect on and apply in their own lives and professional situations the doctrines and teachings in Genesis-Malachi, especially those that reveal the nature and mission of Jehovah/Jesus Christ.
