Nature of ecosystem disturbance and plant succession; developing science and practice of ecological restoration; case studies of applied restoration.

Ecology Applications

Students will understand the applications of plant population ecology, ecophysiology, and community ecology to restoration ecology.

Plant Succession

Students will understand the processes of plant succession as the foundation for restoration ecology.

Practical Application

Students will be able to apply restoration ecology and techniques to practical problems such mined and other drastically-disturbed lands, disturbed terrestrial and riparian or wetland systems, and invasive species concerns
