Medieval Period

Students are expected to acquire in-depth knowledge about specific compositions from the period starting with the emergence of Gregorian chant up to ca. 1400. Additionally, the student should be able to link that knowledge with a general understanding of this period’s principal genres, musical styles, and aesthetic issues

Writing

Students are expected to write substantial, in-depth papers based on a focused topic from the Medieval Period. The research and writing skills should approach a professional level.
