Public Policy Process

Examines the governance processes employed by societies in adopting public policies. Includes the politics, institutions, norms, and actors involved in agenda-setting, legitimation, and decision-making. Introduces analytical frameworks to explain and evaluate the quality of governance.
Analyze
- Students should be able to analyze the history of public policies by applying theories of the policy process.
Identify and Classify
- Students should be able to identify and classify policy processes in policy spaces and contexts.
Solutions/Alternatives
- Students should be able identify problems and challenges with policy design and implementation and alternative solutions.
- Students appreciation for democratic process will be enhanced and their commitment to civic engagement strengthened.
