Advanced Practicum

By the end of this practicum, you will be able to demonstrate developmentally-appropriate competency within the following student learning outcomes:

Provide competent mental health services in the Comprehensive Clinic or other approved site under licensed supervision.Conceptualize and assess cases using MFT theoretical models and a comprehensive systemic and diagnostic framework.

  1. Develop professional treatment plans for working with couples, families, individuals (adults and children), and groups including appropriate DSM-IV diagnoses and assessment, goals for treatment, and measures of client progress, attending to diversity and ethical issues.
  2. Demonstrate skilled delivery of interventions in therapy sessions.
  3. Demonstrate effective use of self as a therapist through self awareness of personal issues and emotional availability to clients.
  4. Document ethical and efficient case management and record keeping abilities.
