Structural Equation Modeling

Hours

3.0 Credit, 3 Lecture, 0 Lab

Semester

Fall
Basic tools in structural equation modeling (SEM), including confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), latent variables, and combining CFA with regression. Applications of SEM to (a) multiple groups, (b) dichotomous and count outcomes, and (c) longitudinal or repeated measures.

Structural Equation Modeling in Social Sciences

  1. Students will be able to estimate basic SEM models with their own data and to navigate at least 2 SEM software programs.
  2. Students will be able to understand basic regression and factor analysis functions within an SEM framework.
  3. Students will be able to interpret output from AMOS (or Stata or R) and Mplus programs, and write up these results in a manner acceptable by professional journals.
