Course Objectives
- To increase students' understanding of current theoretical frameworks influencing family scholarship.
- To sensitize students to the contextual issues that shape current family theory.
- To increase students' ability to evaluate family theory, including awareness of presuppositions and values underlying family theories and research.
- To increase students' understanding of the implicit and explicit ways that theory shapes family research.
- To increase students' ability to use and create family theories.
