Radiatv Heat Trans
Hours
3.0 Credit, 3 Lecture, 0 Lab
Prerequisites
Advanced engineering analysis of radiant heat exchange between surfaces, in enclosures, and in absorbing, emitting, and scattering media.
Analysis of Radiative Surface Exchange
1. Each student will use intensity, fundamental radiative fluxes and radiative surface properties to model radiative exchange between a surface and its surroundings.
Analysis of Radiative Transfer in Participating Media
2. Each student will describe how the principle of conservation of energy and the concepts of emission, absorption and scattering lead to the development of the radiative transfer equation. Each student will employ appropriate analytical and numerical methods to solve the radiative transfer equation.
Applications
3. Each student will apply the basic concepts and fundamental laws of radiative transfer to analyze engineering processes and systems and evaluate their performance. Each student will persuasively present conclusions and recommendations based on their anayses.
