L1 and L2 Fundamentals

Students will be able to define, discuss, evaluate, and apply several key theoretical approaches to L1 and L2 acquisition.

Conversation about L1 and L2 Acquisition

Students will be able to converse with others in an informed manner regarding patterns in L1 and L2 acquisition.

Effects on Acquisition and Teaching of Language

Students will be able to describe how cognitive, affective, social, instructional, linguistic, and demographic variables can affect the acquisition and teaching of language.

SLA Research Questions

Students will be able to ask appropriate research questions in line with their own SLA-related interests.
