Analyzing and interpreting published research for language teachers, writing a review of literature, recognizing various research approaches and assessing their appropriateness, and designing empirical research that is both valid and reliable.

Research Values

Define the values appropriate to good research for language teachers, materials developers, and language acquisition theoreticians; and critically analyze published research for these audiences

Writing Tools

Identify and use appropriate tools, procedures, and concepts for conducting and writing a review of literature on a research topic of your choice

Approach Recognition/Assessment

Recognize and describe various research approaches (both quantitative and qualitative) and assess the appropriateness of each approach for answering specific research questions

Research Reports (APA)

Effectively use the APA manual in order to write research reports in all your graduate classes
