The student must carry out a substantial research project falling within the area of expertise of a law faculty member who is willing to supervise the student's research. The required work product is a written research paper which is expected to make a significant scholarly contribution.
Research and Legal Writing Skills
The student will become knowledgeable on a topic of the student's choice by conducting in-depth research resulting in a substantial legal writing paper. The student will produce a paper with scholarly footnotes that is at least 20 pages long for each Thesis credit the student is earning.
Editing Skills
The student will learn to respond to editing suggestions by the supervising professor in at least one draft submitted to the professor prior to producing the final paper.
