Community & Economic Dev Rep

3.0 Credit, Arr Lecture, 0 Lab
Students participate in simulated exercises on transactional matters which are commonly addressed through local community/economic development and redevelopment efforts. Students will have the opportunity to role play advising clients.

Community & Economic Dev. Rep. 1

Students will be able to provide legal advice in a non-profit, micro-enterprise, small business and other local community/economic development settings, including legal reasoning and analysis, problem solving and making written and oral presentations.

Community & Economic Dev. Rep. 2

Students will be able  to conduct legal research and draft legal documents and opinions which relate to community/economic development including legal and organizational structuring, choice of entities, access to and leveraging private and public financial resources, affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization, private/public/non-profit collaborations, regulatory licenses, contracts, grant applications and 501(c)(3) compliance.

Students will be able to exercise creativity and innovation, practical judgment, influencing and advocacy, speaking, listening, strategic planning, ability to see the world through the eyes of others, community involvement, passion and engagement, building collaborations and resolving problems presented in a legal context.
