Environmental Soil Chemistry
Hours
3.0 Credit, 3 Lecture, 0 Lab
Chemistry of soil systems at macroscopic and microscopic scales, examined from the perspective of scientists interested in environmental assessment and remediation.
Scientific Writing
Students will competently organize and write a scientific report.
Chemistry Fundamentals
Students will demonstrate the ability to apply fundamental chemical principles (equilibrium, kinetics, redox) to soil systems.
Knowledge of Soil Chemistry
Students will demonstrate familiarity with the identity and behavior of the main chemical species that control soil-chemical conditions.
Environmental Impact
Students will demonstrate knowledge of environmental impacts of soil contamination, and associated remediation strategies.
