Neuromech Signal Processing

Hours

2.0 Credit, 1 Lecture, 2 Lab
Focus will be given to processing and interpretation of neuromechanical data, with an emphasis on electromyography and ground reaction force data.

Neuromechanical Data

Demonstrate an understanding of general concepts related to collection and analysis of biomechanical data. These concepts include:

  1. Analog to digital conversion
  2. Selection of an appropriate sampling rate
  3. Analysis of signal frequency
  4. Recognition and treatment of signal noise using a digital filter
  5. Other signal processing techniques and issues

Electromyography

Understand when and how to use electromyography in order to better understand involved muscular activity during human motion

Loads

Use force platforms and load cells in order to measure external loads that are applied to the human body during human motion
