Introduction to the economic and social benefits of education and the development, implementation, and evaluation of federal, state, and local education policy. Specific education policy issues include governance, resource allocation, accountability, diversity, and curriculum.
Understand Principles of Educational Policy
Know the principles of policy making in a political environment in order to develop and implement effective educational policy (aligned with Program Student Learning Outcomes 1f, 3h, 4g).
Application of Educational Policy
Provide an opportunity to apply these theoretical perspectives to key areas of educational policy such as governance, curriculum and testing, accountability, school improvement, teachers, and school finance (aligned with Program Learning Outcomes 1f, 3a, 3b,3d, 3e, 3g, 3h, 4g).
Education Reform
Consider ways of "thinking and doing outside of the box" to reform education
