Multicultural issues in educational theory and practice, with special reference to race, ethnicity, gender, and socioeconomic status.

Influence of personal assumptions

Articulate how one's own values, worldview, and assumptions affect one's perspective about people who are different. (SL#1; EP#1)

Multi-cultural contributions

Demonstrate an understanding of other cultures, racial and ethnic gorups, and socioeconomic classes, and exhibit knowledge about the contributions of such groups to US schools and society. (SL#1; EP#3)

Body of knowledge

Know and understand the specific body of knowledge -- language, complex social trends, theoretical models, etc. -- related to the education of diverse populations in American P-20 education. (SL#1; EP#1)

Diversity and institutional power

Identify ways in which diversity and institutional power affect individuals and their experience in American P-20 education. (SL#2; EP#2; EP#3)
