Theory and implementation of block and convolutional codes for error control in digital communication systems. Iterative detection of low-density parity-check codes and turbo codes.

The ability to write a program to perform hard-decision decoding of block codes.

The ability to write a program to perform soft-decision decoding of low-density parity check codes.

The ability to write a program to decode convolutional codes using the Viterbi Algorithm.
