Critiquing journalism theories and philosophy ranging from traditional libertarian ideals to contemporary movements of public journalism and public service broadcasting.

Survey

Students will survey the literature of journalism studies, particularly those works taking theoretical and sociological approaches to journalism. 

Reading

Students will become familiar with seminal works related to news production, journalism as a profession, and journalism's place in society.
