Characteristics of transportation site planning; traffic impact analysis; principles of access design; driveway, site circulation, and parking lot design; permitting of proposed developments.

Development Plan

Learn and understand the steps necessary to evaluate the transportation component of a proposed development.

Transportation Demand Forecasting

Understand and apply the four steps of urban transportation demand forecasting to a site including: 1) trip generation, 2) trip distribution, 3) mode choice, and 4) trip assignment.

Site Planning Principles

Understand the principles of site planning and be able to design and lay out a parking lot.

Access Management

Learn and understand basic principles of access management and apply these principles in site impact analyses.

Communication

Learn how to communicate transportation site planning ideas effectively both in written and oral settings and prepare a term project report evaluating the transportation component of a proposed development.
