Theoretical foundations of modern systematics, methods of phylogenetic inference, and discussion of contemporary literature.

Understanding of Phylogenetics

Students will understand the theoretical basis of phylogenetic reconstruction and be able to justify your particular point of view.

Understanding of Data Analysis

Students will understand how to run various methods of data analysis.

Understanding of Hypothesis Testing

Students will understand how to design a study and test evolutionary hypotheses in a phylogenetic framework.

Ability to Create Manuscripts

Students will gain hands on experience in drafting a scientific manuscript.

Students will present a research project in a formal setting.
