Seeking and Sharing the Light

Painting of Jesus with lots of children

Submitter Statement:

Brigham Young University has been a beacon of light to me throughout my life. I grew up two miles from BYU, and frequently attended the athletic, art, and cultural events. The students and faculty were my role models growing up. The lit-up Y on the mountain was a visible beacon to me from my living room window. Later, I attended BYU as a student and received a BFA and MFA in Fine Art.

BYU has helped me develop and share my talents with my family, friends, community, and the world through my employment and the arts. The Light of the gospel of Jesus Christ is the greatest beacon of faith, hope, joy, and peace to the world. I seek to share “the Light” by creating works of art depicting Jesus Christ and His teachings, and help others find and learn about Him. This brings me incredible joy!

As He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6). “Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I am the life and the light of the world.” (Doctrine and Covenants 11:28).
