Graduate Studies continues to work remotely and will respond to your email inside usual business hours, M - F, 8 am to 5 pm. Please note that currently, the Former Presidents' Home remains closed to walk-ins, however, our office staff is available to help:

Updates to Graduate Studies due to COVID-19

In accordance with the University's COVID-19 response and subsequent instruction to limit face to face interactions until further notice, BYU Graduate Studies will be limiting all in-person services as we strive to adequately (and safely), serve our campus constituents.  Therefore, the majority of associated services will be provided remotely.  

Please note that we have discontinued walk-ins at this time and will be offering limited front desk/reception service M, W, F, 8 am to 10 am to receive phone call inquiries and BYU mail service deliveries (ONLY).  All other contact should be routed to the respective email or phone extension of the party you wish to speak with.  

If you do not know the email or phone extension of the person you need to talk to, you are encouraged to e-mail our front desk/reception staff at and they will respond as quickly as possible or route your inquiry to the appropriate staff member. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience during this time.

Graduate Studies Staff Responsibilities & Contact Info

  • Logan Gillette is the Interim Dean of Graduate Studies. He replaced the former dean, Dr. Keoni Kauwe, as of July 1, 2020, after Dr. Kauwe was appointed President of BYU Hawaii. As the Interim Dean, he manages all operations in Graduate Studies and full-time staff report directly to him. Gillette holds MPA and juris doctorate degrees from BYU in addition to bachelor’s degrees in political science and pacific island studies from BYU-Hawaii. He joined BYU Graduate Studies in 2015 where he handled the admission and enrollment processes for approximately 2,800 students in BYU’s 89 graduate programs.

  • James Crane is the Assistant Dean of Curriculum and Professional Development. He manages curriculum review activities by the Graduate Curriculum Council. He also oversees Professional Development and manages the Graduate Student Society (GSS) Presidency.

  • Jan Goodrich, Graduate Studies Controller, oversees all financial and budget related operations. He is also the department HR Representative. He supervises the Budget Intern, the Office Manager and front desk student employees.  

  • Janice Robinson is Special Projects Manager and continues to oversee technology implementations, communications with OIT developers, responding to unique problems with access, trouble shooting, and various special events.  

  • Denise Stanton is the Advisement Administrator and oversees all advisement and current matriculated student efforts. She supervises the Advisement and Publications Interns.  

  • Suanne Wilda is the Graduate Studies Office Manager. She works to support all office operations as well as assisting with the supervision of our front desk student reception employees.  

  • Doug Harvey is the Graduate Studies Data Analyst. All requests for information are routed through him. Doug has extensive experience in data extraction, analysis, and presentation. 

  • MariLee Allred, Executive Assistant to the Dean, has a wealth of experience in the field of higher education. She is the point person for all communication and coordination with the Dean.


All other positions comprise student employees as part of the Graduate Student Society, Interns, Specialists, or Front Desk Staff who fulfill their respective duties and report to their respective supervisors as mentioned above.
