The Master of Social Work program at Brigham Young University is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

Resources & Opportunity

The School of Social Work utilizes the Comprehensive Clinic, an interdisciplinary training and research facility. The facility houses state-of-the-art video and computer equipment, as well as a staff of skilled technicians and staff to support graduate student and faculty research.

Faculty research interests currently include: Aging; American Indian families and children; behavioral health of National Guard and Reserve military service members and their families, including resiliency, suicide interventions, perceived stigma, barriers to care and adequacy of interventions; health disparities and life transitions among at-risk, minority, and global youth populations; HIV prevention; HIV/AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa; intersectionality of poverty, education inequality and gender; mental health; migration and refugees; orphaned and vulnerable children; refugee resettlement; religion and spirituality; social work practice; substance abuse treatment; youth development in Sub-Saharan Africa. Certification and Licensure: MSW students can take courses that lead to School Social Work licensure (Soc W 580).

Financial Assistance

The BYU School of Social Work offers the following financial aid opportunities: Full- and partial-tuition scholarships, paid research assistant positions, and internships paid by community agencies. Applicants should apply for admission and financial aid concurrently. Notifications of financial aid will be included in the letter of acceptance. Typically, MSW students are offered a financial aid package between $20,000-$25,000.
