Scholarly practice in rhetorical theory and criticism

Students in English 613 will use important texts in rhetoric, including modern texts in rhetorical theory, to articulate critical approaches to communicative artifacts that enable analysis and evaluation of those artifacts' capacity to influence.

Conference-length scholarly paper

Students in English 613 will produce a scholarly essay developing both theory and practice of rhetorical criticism in the analysis of a communicative artifact. That essay will be of conference-paper length and suitable for professional presentation.
